Stewardship Technician

WBC is recruiting a Stewardship Technician to join our team.

The Stewardship Technician is responsible for implementing stewardship projects in the Walker Basin and beyond. Stewardship activities include fuels management and conifer removal, mechanical and chemical weed control, wildlife friendling fence construction, irrigation installation and operation, native plant revegetation, trail building and recreation enhancement, process-based stream restoration, and other stream and wetland improvements. Stewardship Technicians work on small teams with other Technicians and at the direction of a Stewardship Specialist, often in remote locations requiring camping for four to eight days at a time.


Conservation Science Technician

WBC is recruiting a Conservation Science Technician to join our team.

The Conservation Science Technicians will serve alongside conservancy field staff conducting primarily ecological monitoring and wildlife surveys within the Walker River Basin. Technicians will work in teams of three to four (two to three technicians and a crew lead) to conduct vegetation and ecological monitoring surveys within the walker basin watershed. Crews will typically work four 10-hour days reporting to the field station on a daily basis. Occasional hitch work requiring overnight camping will be required.

The Walker Basin Conservancy partners with the Bureau of Land Management to implement Assessment Inventory and Monitoring (AIM) surveys in western Nevada and eastern California. The AIM strategy is designed to collect standardized inventory and long-term vegetation and soils data to monitor habitat at multiple scales across the Western U.S. The Vegetation Monitoring Technicians will work in teams of three (two technicians and a Crew Lead) to conduct vegetation and ecological monitoring surveys within western Nevada (Carson City District) or eastern California (Bishop Field Office). There will be two crews in NV and one in CA. Crews will work on eight-day hitches, from Wednesday to Wednesday (10hr/day), with six days off in-between hitches.

Nursery Tech I

The Nursery Tech I is responsible for assisting Nursery management in the collecting, growing, shipping and harvesting of the Shadehouse and Greenhouse operations at the Smith Valley nursery location. The primary focus is on executing greenhouse production practices and substrate nutrient applications while maintaining high sanitation protocols for the Shadehouse (SH) and Greenhouse (GH).
